A.Y.A.L.A. Center - A centre for educational and cultural bridging in Israel's educational system. £5,000 for Relating to the Other, an educational initiative which is changing the stereotypes held by religious Jews and Arabs.
Center for Educational Technology - educational programme promoting understanding and co-existence among Christians, Jews and Muslims in Israel. Funding for 'Living in the Holyland' which seeks to establish a long-term self-sustaining programme of cultural diversity by implementing a pedagogical programme into Israel's educational system. Part funding has been obtained from the EU. Pledge for £5,000 on receipt of confirmation that the project has been fully funded.
The Jerusalem Foundation - 'Discovering Ourselves Through the Other' - Joint workshops at the Centre for Jewish-Arab Experience. $46,350 sought. Agreed $15,000 p.a. for three years.
Leo Baeck College - training young men and women as rabbis and then to return to their home communities in the former Soviet Union. Renewed long term support at £12,000 p.a. for five years.
Oxford Centre for Hebrew & Jewish Studies - Renewed long term support with a grant of £20,000 p.a. for three years towards the appointment of a Senior Fellowship, particularly to fund a post in Muslim-Jewish relations.
The Jaffa Institute - Renewal of support for their work with severely disadvantaged children and their families regardless of religious or ethnic background which provides educational, recreational and social enrichment programmes that endow children with a sense of self worth and skills to succeed. £1,000.
The Centre for Jewish-Christian Relations - Innovative scholarship and interfaith thinking in the UK and Europe. Agreed to grant £13,567 p.a. for three years to enable the Centre to expand the interactive nature of the Distance Learning Programme.
Geneva Initiative - Proposal to provide an English language website that the Israeli and Palestinian parties to the GI are interested in building as part of the ongoing efforts to present an alternative to the current political situation. The website will function as a database, raise support for the GI vision and activities, be used for international fund raising and offer a direct channel of communication between the two sides. Seed funding of $70,500 agreed.
Hillel - Promoting the successful integration of people who decide to leave their Israeli ultra-Orthodox communities to begin a new life in modern pluralistic Israel. £2,000 p.a. for three years to provide scholarships.
Neve Shalom - Renewal of support for 'Arab-Jewish Youth Encounter Workshop' which works with young people to promote inclusiveness, pluralism and equality among Jews and Arabs in Israel. £5,000.
